Express Grant – Fast, Simple, and Flexible
The Express Grant is a popular choice for small to mid-sized businesses looking for a straightforward way to get reimbursed for employee training. Here’s what it offers:
-
Up to $15,000 per organization per calendar year
-
Up to $3,000 per employee per course
-
100% reimbursement for companies with 1–50 MA W-2 employees
-
50% reimbursement for companies with 51–100 MA W-2 employees
You can apply for training up to 6 months in advance, but your application must be submitted at least 21 days before your training start date to be eligible.
The Express Grant portal officially reopened on July 15, 2025, and applications are now being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so submitting early increases your chance of securing funding.
General Grant – For Custom, Long-Term Training
If your training plans are more complex or span a longer timeframe, the General Grant may be a better fit. This program reopens on July 29, 2025 and offers:
-
Up to $125,000 per organization
-
For multi-year, customized training initiatives
New Requirement: Certificate of Compliance
A new document is now required for all Express and General Grant applications: the Certificate of Compliance from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
This certificate is only valid for 30 days, so you’ll want to time your request carefully. View step-by-step instructions to request it.
