Unlocking Well-Being in the Workplace
Strengthening Minds, Strengthening Business
According to The National Alliance on Mental Illness, one in every five Americans struggles with mental health. Add to that economic and societal pressure, and it is no wonder that so many people are suffering. Too often, they suffer in silence due to mental health stigma, especially in the workplace. Employers play an influential role in creating a place of understanding and support. This three-session course is for everyone in your organization, from the individual contributor up the chain to executives.
This program will help you to identify stress and burnout, manage those emotions, provide guidance on how to have conversations in the workplace about mental health issues, and ensure that your company is aware of its legal obligations regarding mental health conditions at work.
Benefits of Attending:
- Explain the difference between mental and emotional health
- Summarize the difference between good and bad stress
- Learn to have open and supportive conversations with colleagues about mental health
- Recall the main laws and regulations governing mental health in the workplace
- How to build your own stress management toolbox

1Stress Management and Burnout
Start with yourself, overcome burnout, and build a more resilient organization
According to HBR.org, “Burnout is now officially recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the responsibility for managing it has shifted away from the individual and towards the organization.” Whether you are struggling with a loss of productivity, an increase in turnover, or a decrease in employee morale, this Burnout and Stress Management course from AIM HR Solutions can help
everyone better support themselves and others. While stress is a part of life, we can manage it with the right mindset and tools. This knowledge-building session is your chance to:
- Summarize the difference between good and bad stress
- Identify warning signs of burnout in yourself and others
- Recognize examples of adaptive and maladaptive coping strategies
- Build your own stress management toolbox
Class
2Mental and Emotional Wellness
Build a culture that supports resilience, reduces stigmas, and empowers employees to thrive
80% of American workers say they would consider quitting their current position for an organization focused on employee mental health, according to a survey of 1000 workers by Tellus International. While it’s essential for companies and organizations to prioritize mental health initiatives, success only happens when we all have a better understanding of how to support both ourselves and colleagues who may be struggling with mental health issues. This session is focuses less on tools and tactics and more on raising awareness and reducing stigmas. By the end of this knowledge-building session, you’ll be able to:
- Explain the difference between mental and emotional health
- Summarize common mental health themes in professionals
- Identify common signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression in self and others
- Practice having open and supportive conversations with colleagues about mental health issues including how to ask for help, offer support, and provide referrals to appropriate resources
Class
3Mental Health at Work: Laws and Best Practices
Create a supportive work environment for employee’s mental health and wellbeing
Mental health conditions affect millions of people. It can be difficult to understand how best to support yourself or others in the workplace suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, pandemic-related stress,
or a myriad of other mental health conditions. Discrimination complaints, accommodation requests, and productivity in the workplace can all be affected by these things. As mental illness prevalence increases, society places an increasingly high priority on mental health awareness, and COVID-19 results in ongoing uncertainty, these issues will only grow. This makes it imperative that your company is aware
of its legal obligations and best practices regarding mental health conditions at work. By the end of this knowledge-building session, you will:
- Recall the main laws and regulations governing mental health in the workplace, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA),
and the Mental Health Parity Act (MHPA) - Explain the role of management and HR in addressing mental health concerns among employees; including how to respond to requests for accommodations and how to
handle sensitive conversations around mental health - Demonstrate an understanding of common mental health conditions and how they can impact employees’ ability to perform their job duties
- Employ best practices to help foster a healthy and productive workforce even if they do not stem from a legal obligation.
